    ancona.

    L'Ancona (dal greco-bizantino "εὶχόνα" che signifca "immagine") è un termine in uso almeno dal XII secolo per indicare comunemente una pittura su tavola di tema religioso collocata su un altare. È sinonimo di pala d'altare.

    Nel meridione il termine "cona" è ancora usato per indicare una nicchia per le immagini sacre.


    Chiedo scusa a tutti se non ho approfondito per mia curiosità questo aspetto di storia dell'arte.
